HISTORY

 Calvary Temple has a brief but rich history. Calvary Temple was first (Conceived) placed in the heart and mind of then Minister Andre E. Nettles in Feb 1997 in Athens Ohio. After serving faithfully at Zion Temple COGIC as a Deacon and later as a licensed Minister, under the leadership of Pastor Noco Walls Sr.; Minister Nettles received military orders to Ohio University to serve as the Assistant Professor of Military Science. After attending some of the local churches in an area where there were no COGIC services offered, Minister Nettles was compelled to start a teaching mission, after counsel with Pastor Walls, hence birth Calvary Temple Mission COGIC, Athens OH.  At the mission minister Nettles became the spiritual leader to mainly graduate and undergraduate students attending Ohio University. At the mission minister Nettles performed his first Baptism Service where he baptized two undergraduate students in the James River.

 *After Ordination in March of 1998, now Elder Nettles received military orders to The Netherlands, to serve as Commander, Combat Equipment Base, in Vriezenveen, The Netherlands. After attending some of the local Dutch churches where there were no English-speaking services available to attend, Elder Nettles was moved by God again to re-established Calvary Temple Mission COGIC, where he mainly ministered to Refugees from many different African states (Congo, Kenya, and Sudan) just to mention a few, none of which had transportation and Elder Nettles drove 45 miles one way every Sunday to pick up the African brothers and sisters. With the use of translators Elder Nettles was able to preach the Gospel to many African brothers and sisters.

*In May 2001 Elder Nettles received military orders to move to Fort Campbell Kentucky, where he served as the 101st CSG Adjutant. Compelled by God once again Elder Nettles open the doors of the mission in Clarksville TN. Four months later 911 Terrorist Attacks took place and Elder Nettles was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom for one year; the doors of the mission in Clarksville, TN were later closed. Upon Elder Nettles return from the war he and his family joined Word of Life Ministries COGIC for their remaining four months in the Clarksville area. Elder Nettles then received orders reassigning him to Fort McPherson GA, where he served as the 3rd Army C1/G1 Force Flow Planner for all Adjutant General Units deploying to and from Iraq.

 After faithfully serving at Jonesboro COGIC as an associate Elder for about a year; Elder Nettles could no longer deny the call of God on his life to pastor and re-opened the doors of Calvary Temple COGIC in locust Grove, GA on 10 September 2005. Two weeks later Calvary Temple join the Fellowship District, under the leadership of the late Supt. Larry Howard, and Southern Georgia Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, Headquarters located in Macon, Ga, under the leadership of the late Bishop Jack Stephens; now Bishop John Wayne Leggett Jurisdiction Prelate.

 On 20 June 2007 Calvary Temple moved into its' current facility in Jenkingsburg, Ga. On 5 July 2007 Calvary Temple launched its’ church webpage @ www.CTBOC.com to be visible to a larger body of souls in and around the Jenkingsburg area. In August 2007 Calvary Temple became a Host Site for Angel Food Ministries as part of outreach ministry with a goal to provide food to needy families in the area and have issued over 600 boxes of groceries to families. After the closure of Angel Food Ministries, Calvary Temple in its efforts to continue the outreach ministry of providing food to the needy became a Host Site for One Harvest Food Ministries.

In Oct 2016 following the leading of the Lord the church's name was changed to The Calvary Temple Church, and is now conducting ministry as an independent Church. The mission of the Calvary Temple Church is to be the presence of Christ to a lost and dying world. We pledge our lives to Christ and covenant with each other to demonstrate His spirit through worship, witnessing, and ministering to the needs of the members and community at large.
